Spirit of the ADA AWARDS
The Annual Spirit of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Community Advocacy Awards recognize individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to help make the Coastal Bend a more inclusive place for everyone to live, work, play, and learn!

Judy Telge
Crystal Lyons Excellence in Advocacy Award
Judy has a long and successful history in the disabilities space in our community - she is the Founder and former Executive Director of the Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living (she still currently serves as Development Director), a pioneer in affordable & accessible housing in the Coastal Bend, and a long time advocate for accessible transportation. She has also served as a mentor for many on their personal advocacy journey.
Carol Aselage
Dr. Peter Serrao Medical Advocacy Award
This award is named for Captain Charlie’s NICU doctor at Driscoll Children's Hospital - someone who inspired Wings of Texas Founder Michelle Jones to never give up on her son and to never stop believing in what he can do. Carol provided that same perspective, to Michelle and so many other parents of a child with a disabilities, and she has made it possible for their children to accomplish their dreams through her work with orthotics.
Jen "The Friend" Gracia
Community Advocacy Award
Jennifer is a graduate of the Texas Partners in Policymaking program, the Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi Committee on People with Disabilities, and an active member of the local chapter of the TABPHE~ Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education. She is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities in our community and is the caregiver of her mother (a person with disabilities) and was instrumental in bringing Disability Book Week to the City.
